2nd International Lagori series kicks off
Lagori, the game of seven stones is a famous amusement among the children in South India
The four-day event, being organised by Maharashtra Lagori Association and under the auspices of India Lagori Association, kicked off yesterday at Nagothane.
The International Lagori Federation is also providing services. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of International Lagori Federation Santosh Gurav informed “the objective behind organizing the series is to develop and promote the tradition Indian sport worldwide”.
Lagori (seven stones) is popular mainly in South India. It is a game played between two teams in an unlimited area involving a ball and a pile of flat stones.
Indian team won the opening match by 25-09 and 08-02 against Kenya, while Uganda defeated Chad by 05-04 & 08-08 and 06-05.
In another match, South Sudan won by 12-09, 12-07 against Chad.
