32,000 New Auto permits for Mumbai
14,000 permits for the rest of the state
Mumbai: Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan sanctioned new auto rickshaw permits recently. As per the sanctions, Mumbai is allotted with 32,000 and other Maharashtra is allotted with 14,000 new auto rickshaw permits.
The transport secretary has been informed for the sanctions and the decision will be implemented very soon. Rickshaw unions welcomed the government decision.
Shailesh Sharma, Secretary, Transport told Prahaar, “There was a strong demand from the citizens for the allotting the new auto permits as well as renewal of the permits of dead persons. Finally the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan sanctioned the permits,” he said.
As per the allotment, the new auto permits will be provided by transport commissioner’s office.
All the auto rickshaw unions welcomed the decision of allotting new auto rickshaw permits. Thus soon there will be new 32,000 auto rickshaws on Mumbai’s roads.
