6th batch of 2,128 pilgrims leaves for Amarnath yatra
Jammu: The sixth batch comprising 2,128 pilgrims today left from the base camp here for the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir Himalayas amid tight security.
The batch, which included 1,562 men, 399 women, 20 children and 147 sadhus, left in a cavalcade of 59 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here at 5:00 am today, a police official said.
The convoy for the yatra has already crossed Patnitop on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and would reach its destination at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps by this evening, he added.
With today’s batch, as many as 11,218 pilgrims have so far left from Jammu base camp for Amarnath shrine.
As many as 15,000 have paid obeisance at the cave shrine of Lord Shiva in Amarnath till this morning.
