2 dead, 26 injured in road accident in J-K

Rambam (J-K): Two persons were today killed and 26 others were injured, seven of them seriously, when a speeding truck hit their vehicle on Jammu-Srinagar Highway.

“An over speeding truck hit a small passenger vehicle that was on its way to Ukerhal from Ramban and due to the impact the vehicle fell into a deep gorge,” a senior police officer said.

He said that immediately after the accident, local residents launched a rescue operation to evacuate the trapped passengers.

The police and civil administration also reached the spot soon after the accident, he said.

“One person died on the spot while the second one died on way to the hospital,” the officer said, adding that seven of the seriously injured are being airlifted to Jammu for treatment.

Father, daughter killed in road mishap near Jaipur

Jaipur: A man and his young daughter were today killed when a motorcycle which they were riding was hit by a heavy vehicle from the rear on Jaipur-Ajmer express highway at Bhankrota, police said.

The deceased were a man aged about 40 years and his daughter aged about 15 years, police said, adding, their names are not yet known.

The deceased man’s wife who was also riding with them was rushed to SMS hospital here, police said.

The three were coming to Jaipur from their village in Narsinghpura to attend a marriage function when the mishap occurred around 1300 hrs at Bhankrota, they said.

Two killed in road accident in UP’s Kaushambi

Kaushambi (UP): Two persons were killed when a motorcycle was hit by a truck in Saini area of the district, police said here today.

According to the police, 42-year-old Chottelal Kesarwani and Banarsi Lal, whose age is yet to be identified, were killed when the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a truck near Kamasin village yesterday.

The truck had been seized, but its driver managed to escape, police said.

The bodies had been sent for post mortem, they said.

3 killed in two road mishaps in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer: Three persons were killed in two separate incidents of road accidents here, police said today.

In the first incident, 25-year-old Jor Singh and 35-year-old Govind Singh were killed when the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a truck near Pokharan yesterday, they said.

The truck driver fled from the spot after the incident, police said.

In another incident, 38-year-old Purna Ram was crushed to death when the tractor-trolley he was driving turned turtle near Ramgarh canal area yesterday, they said.

In both the cases, bodies have been handed over to family members after post-mortem, police said.

Boy killed in Jharkhand

Chaibasa (Jharkhand): A four-year-old boy was crushed to death in his sleep while his mother managed to escape along with an infant sister after a heavy vehicle rammed into their home in Danawali today, police said.

The victim Jawani Kui along with her son Chari Champia and one-year-old daughter Jasmati were in their deep sleep inside their home when a ten-wheeler truck suddenly rammed into the home, police said.

Champia, who was sleeping on an adjacent cot, was killed on the spot while Jawani along with her infant daughter managed to escape.

Police said the truck with registration of Nagaland was on its way to Badajamda from Jamshedpur to load iron-ore when the driver lost control over it, causing the incident.

The truck has been confiscated but the driver managed to escape.
