‘Accidental’ firing by BSF jawan outside Omar’s residence
Srinagar: A BSF jawan allegedly accidentally opened fired in the high security area near Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence at Gupkar road here today.
No one was injured in the incident. Omar, who has been campaigning for the assembly polls, was not at his residence.
“There was some accidental firing on Gupkar road this morning. The matter is being investigated,” a BSF spokesman said.
The jawan fired several rounds. Meanwhile, Omar said that he has full faith in his security team.
“Notwithstanding today’s incident with the BSF jawan stationed at my residence in Srinagar I have full confidence in my security team,” he wrote on Twitter.
