NaxalsPakur (Jharkhand): A top Maoist, wanted in twin attacks on police parties, has been arrested at Bargo village in Pakur district, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off that ‘sub-zonal commander’ of the CPI (Maoist’s) North Santhal Pargana Dawood Hembram was hiding atop a hill in Bargo village under Amrapara police station, a police team raided the area and nabbed him last night, DIG (Santhal Pargana) Priya Dubey said.

Hembram, after his arrest, guided to the recovery of a self-loading rifle, a pistol, eight bullets and two mobile phone sets from another place, she said.

One of the mobiles was looted from a constable, who died along with Pakur SP Amarjit Balihar in the Maoist ambush at Dumka on July 2 last year, she added.

Hembram was involved in the April 17 attack on the police/polling personnel, who were returning after the third phase elections ended in Dumka, she said.

“In all, the rebel is facing six cases of murder and extortion,” Dubey said.
