Artist to present unique gift on Lata Didi’s birthday
A Guinness record holder, Apuraj Barooah will present a unique gift to Lata Mangeshkar on her 84th birthday
New Delhi: Apuraj Barooah, a Guinness record holder for his works of scratch art, will present melody queen Lata Mangeshkar with a unique gift on her 84th birthday – a portrait made with cups filled with tea of different hues.
And in the process, he will attempt to create the world’s first tea mosaic, a feat to be monitored by Guinness records officials in Mumbai.
“25,000 tea cups filled with various brewed liquor will be placed in such a way that they resemble the portrait of Lataji. Only tea and milk will be used in the cups. No colour will be used. The portrait will measure 60 sq m (6mx10m),” Barooah told. The act will be made on September 28.
“This will be my own way to pay tribute to the living legend. I spoke to Lataji and she is also very eager to see the result,” Barooah says.
“I am in touch with authorities in Mumbai and planning to attempt the feat in a stadium,” he says.
In 2011, Barooah entered the Guinness records for creating the longest scratch art piece in London. His work – 20.30 meters long and 1.4 meters wide – contained 40 pictures of world folk dances including the famous Bihu dance of Assam.
