‘Backwater Festival and Crocodile Safari’ at Chiplun
‘Backwater Festival and Crocodile Safari 2014’ will be held from 10th to 12th May at an island opposite to Gowalkot wharf
Chiplun: Tourism helps to develop the region along with enhancing lifestyle of people who stay in vicinity; with this very purpose some tourism lovers in Chiplun gathered and established an organization named Global Chiplun Tourism Multipurpose Co-op Society.
The Society has organized ‘Backwater Festival and Crocodile Safari 2014’ from 10th to 12th May at an island opposite to Gowalkot wharf, informed Society’s Chairman Ramsheth Redis.
Konkan Bhumi Pratishthan and Tourism Development Board have supported this initiative. Konkan is rich with various characteristics like beautiful beaches, historical forts, hilltops, streams and little islands; the Festival is being organized to highlight these elements of the region.
The festival will take place on a lovely island opposite to the Gowalkonda wharf where huge Shamiyana has been set up to accommodate 5000 audience and tourists. 40 stalls of Konkan products will be installed. Also, special section for kids is being prepared. Sightseeing in Chiplun, crocodile safari in the evening while serpents would be resting at the creek shore and various entertainment programs will be held at this three days event.
