Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s winning race
Farhan Akhtar celebrates the success of the biopic on sprinter Milkha Singh
The biopic based on athlete Milkha Singh’s life ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has not just made Milkha Singh eternal rather the response at the box-office has been extravagant. The movie in its first week has made a business of Rs 53 crores and it seems like all the efforts put in by the team and protagonist, Farhan Akthar have finally borne fruits.
“I am very happy the film is being loved by the audiences all over the nation. This acceptance for the film is nothing less than a compliment for me I must say,” says Farhan at the success party of ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’.
Director Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra also shares his happiness saying, “I am quite happy with the audience for the way they have accepted the film. It’s highly overwhelming and very humbling.”
The movie is racing towards the 100 crore bench mark and it is also been declared tax free in the state Maharashtra. This week it will compete with ‘D-Day’ starring Arjun Rampal, Shruti Hassan, Huma Qureshi, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor and ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ starring debutant Girish Taurani, son of producer Kumar Taurani and Shruti Hassan. Both these movies are of two different genres, while it seems like the biopic film would run strong even in the coming week as it has struck a chord with the audience.
