Burnt Police officer succumbs to death
Assistant Police Sub Inspector (ASI) Harishchandra Pevekar, an employee at Police head quarters, succumbed to burns
Ratnagiri: ASI Harishchandra Pevekar, an employee of the Police headquarters here, succumbed to burns. He was 56 years old. On the dawn of Sunday, five suspects attempted to burn Pevekar alive. Pevekar had 80 to 90% of burns on his body. He was admitted to government district hospital. He was attacked behind the building of Babasaheb Ambedkar social justice complex at Kuwarbav.
The police guessed that the attack on the police officer was outcome of a quarrel among Pevekar and his relatives for Pevekar’s land. The city police took two suspects into custody for interrogation.
The attackers asked Pevekar to discuss the issue in the morning at 6.30 behind Babasaheb Ambedkar social justice complex and attempted to burn him alive with kerosene and petrol.
