Sivaganga: The Center is taking steps to develop the sick khadi and handloom sectors by allocating Rs 19,000 crore and providing training to workers in these sectors, Union Minister for Textiles, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao said today.
Focusing on manufacturing quality textile products should be what the workers do to make the National Textile Corporation Units successful and profitable, he said while inaugurating two spinning mills, set up at a cost of Rs 55 crore and Rs 66 crore respectively by NTC at Kalayarkoil and Kamuthakudi near here.
He said, “Working whole heartedly was as important as demanding more wages and bonus.” Stating the Textile sector provided employment to maximum number of people next to agricultural sector, he said that India would soon beat China to be the world’s top textile exporter.
