NaxalsNew Delhi: The centre has asked all the Naxal violence-affected states to tighten security in their areas ahead of the Republic day, in wake of intelligence inputs suggesting that Maoist cadres may try to disrupt peace and launch offensive actions during the celebrations.

In an advisory, the Home Ministry has issued all such states to increase vigil and deploy additional security measures to thwart any Naxal plan which may be planned around the Republic day and even the days preceding and succeeding it.

The inputs suggest that the Maoists may try to hoist black flags, distribute anti-government pamphlets, target security forces’ camps and patrols, sabotage railway tracks and ambush convoys in an attempt to disrupt the celebrations in these areas.

The inputs also suggest that the Naxalites may canvass for boycott of these celebrations in the violence-affected states and hence security agencies and administration should keep a check on these activities too.

The Naxals, the advisory indicates, may attempt raiding police stations and armories in an attempt to forcibly release their cadres and loot weapons and explosives.
