Cholai village faces massive water crisis


Non availability of potable water leaves villagers of Cholai helpless.

CholaiPoladpur: Due to closing of bores, villagers in Cholai have to drink polluted water of lakes emerged out of mines and leaking streams from mountains. This raises the question of their health.

Cholai village is located in Poladpur near Mumbai-Goa highway. Ten years back, a well was constructed in the river basin near this village. Sadawali Gram Panchayat used to supply this water to Cholai village and tribal people by pipe. But in rainy season, well was the fencing of this well collapsed and the well was filled with mud. Hence, this water crisis arrived on villagers.

The lake is quite far away from the village and ladies have to cross the highway to get the water. It increases the threat of their accidents too. Tribal women have to sit near the stream for hours to get the water. Hence, villagers are demanding Raigarh Zila Parishad to arrange alternate water resources on urgent basis.
