Cricketer Darryn Randall dies of hitting ball in the head
First-class South African cricketer Darryn Randall died of hitting in the head by the ball
He died on Sunday at a hospital in the southern town of Alice in the Eastern Cape, The national body Cricket South Africa informed.
Randall was struck on the side of the head and collapsed during a league match. It was not clear if he was wearing a helmet. A wicketkeeper-batsman, played four first-class games for the Border province in 2009.
CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat expressed the federation’s condolences and said it would be offering counseling to those involved in the match.
