Dalit Samaj holds Mahapanchayat to discuss Sunped burn case
Faridabad : A ‘Mahapachayat’ by the Dalit community was today held in Ballabgarh to discuss about the shocking incident of two children of a Dalit family being burnt alive in Sunped village and decided to organise a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on November 1.
“In this protest people from all over the country would be marking their presence,” said Anil Baba, State President, Republican Party of India.
Baba further said that a memorandum would be given to the President as well as Prime Minister of India to look into the interests of the Dalit Samaj.
The meeting comes close on the heels of another ‘Mahapanchayat’ which was organised by people from the upper cast on Sunday in Faridabad.
The gathering which was held in a temple was attended by around 300 people from the Dalit community where the speakers talked about “justice being delayed” in the case.
Demands were raised for the inclusion of Section 120B in the Sunped burning case and the immediate arrest of the four remaining accused who are roaming free.
“The inclusion of section 120B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy) in the FIR filed against 11 accused in the case is a must because the incident was a calculated and planned attack,” said K P Gautam, National Spokesperson of Bharatiya Samanvay Sangathan (Lakshya).
Gautam said that the Panchayat would consider to demand a compensation of one crore from the government.
“The local BJP leaders have used their influence in making things worse for the Dalit Samaj and are also instrumental in helping the four accused evade the arrest,” alleged Mukesh, one of the speakers from Delhi.
A demand was also raised for a fast track trial of the case in Delhi once the CBI enquiry was complete.
Representatives of BSP from NCR also participated in the Mahapanchayat.
Two children of a Dalit family were burnt alive and their parents suffered injuries allegedly after some persons from upper caste set their house afire while they were sleeping on October 20.
