DDE, Kurukshetra varsity, Shantiwan Sanstha to get Dnyanadeep Award


Nashik: City-based Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) will felicitate Shantiwan Sanstha of Beed and Directorate of Distance Education of Kurukshetra University (KU) with the ‘Dnyanadeep Award’ for their contribution in respective fields.

The award will be presented by Governor of Assam and Nagaland PB Acharya at a function here on September 24, an official YCMOU release issued here said.

Directorate of Distance Education, KU, has been selected for the honour for its noteworthy contribution in the field of distance learning education through its variety of skill-based programmes, specially to reach out to the under privileged section of the society.

Shantiwan Sanstha in Maharashtra’s Beed district was founded 14 years ago by Kaveri Nagargoje, who was inspired by social reformer Baba Amte.

The organisation has been supporting the cause of upliftment of the ‘devadasis’, women from tamashaa, sex workers, widows, handicapped women by educating their children, the release said.
