Devgadh: The Yatra (holy Fair) of Dev Kunkeshwar, famous as Dakshin Konkan’s Kashi, will begin today which will be celebrated for three days. The Minister of Industries Narayan Rane visited the temple of Kunkeshwar this morning. All the forces including Police, Zila Parishad, Gram Panchayat and temple trust are set to manage this Yatra ensuring the security of visitors and temple.
Trust has taken decision to close direct entry and open only Mukhdarshan if the crowd increases during fair. One storey mandap and an iron bridge to cross the coastal highway are constructed. The proposed coastal highway runs between temple and accommodation facility for devotees. Devotees queue up on the road every year but this time the queue will be moved from the bridge.
State transport and Police administration has marked their routes for the Fair. A road towards Kunkeshwar is not two-lane hence like every year heavy vehicles will be traveling by single lane on Khakshi Ghati.
All the vehicles entering from Nandgaon via Nipani Devgadh would now travel via Lingdal Titha and cross the Dabhol Bridge to reach Kunkeshwar. This road will be a single lane. All the vehicles coming from Devgadh and Vijaydurg will be reaching Kunkeshwar via Khaksi Titha and Ilaye. All the measures are taken to prevent traffic jam on the arrival and departure routes of Kunkeshwar.
