District police hunt for killers who strangulated young man
Thane: The district police has launched a manhunt for unidentified people who strangulated a young man of around 28 years to death and dumped his body in a tempo in Kasara at Sahapur taluka of the district, a police official said here today.
Police sub-inspector K G Ghosalkar of the Kasara police station told PTI today that last evening, at around 4 pm, the complainant had parked his tempo after unloading goods in a lane in Kasara and gone to rest.
After he returned at around 7 pm, he found a man sleeping inside the tempo. He took the person out of the tempo with the help of others and laid him on the ground after which he parked the tempo in a nearby lane, the police official said.
Passers by spotted the lifeless body lying on the ground marks on the neck.
It appeared as if somebody had strangulated the victim to death with a rope and dumped his body in the tempo when the complainant had gone to rest, the police official said.
Based on the complaint by Naresh Yadav, the police registered an offence under Section 302 and Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code and sent the body for postmortem, the police official said.
The police official said that the body had a tattoo with the alphabets “SONI” on his arm.
