Elephants on rampage in Mangaon
Paddy parched along with coconut and betel nut destroyed, farmers in fear
Kudal: Shridhar Varang, a farmer of Naneli Varachi Dhepagalu in Mangaon region experienced the elephants’ rampage in his farm. The wild animals ruined the paddy parched with coconut trees and destroyed betel nut garden in the fields.
The wild elephants in a group started the rampage in the region from Saturday night around 11 PM and destroyed paddy, coconut trees, betel nut garden and banana trees. The rampage is still going on at other farmer’s fields.
The forest department officials came visited the spot and did a panchnama of the loss. The elephants were moving near the village during the nights. This has terrorized the farmers and they are in fear.
