Excited to work with Big B in my next: Bejoy Nambiar
Filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar is excited to team up with megastar Amitabh Bachchan for the first time for his untitled film, which also stars Farhan Akhtar
Nambiar, who is behind critically acclaimed films ‘Shaitan’ and ‘David’, said he is yet to start the production of the movie.
“I cannot talk much about my new project right now, but the film will be produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and stars Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar in it. I am quite excited to work with Mr Bachchan. He is one of the biggest stars of our industry,” Bejoy said.
The name of the leading lady of the film has not been disclosed but it has been reported that Bejoy is currently in talks with Kareena Kapoor.
“We will make an official announcement on the same, since we are still in talks for it,” he added.
Nambiar’s new romantic comedy ‘Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi’ hit theatres today. For the film, which he produced, the filmmaker has collaborated with Ekta Kapoor.
Being directed by newcomer Aman Sachdeva, the film features former Miss India Simran Kaur and newcomer Siddharth Gupta in leading roles.
“Aman (director) is a good friend of mine. I had the idea about the film with me for a long time. But it couldn’t work out. When I met Aman and shared the idea with him he quickly made the film. Ekta (Kapoor) also got convinced with the storyline,” he said.
Set in Delhi, ‘Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi’, stars fresh faces but Bijoy is not worried.
“I am for content driven films. The script of the film demands fresh faces. It’s a a fun, quirky and no-holds barred friendship film with a quirky title,” he added.
After starting his career in showbiz as a director and helmed films like ‘Shaitan’ and ‘David’, Bejoy slowly shifted to production and collaborated with producers like Ekta and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
The filmmaker said that the idea of turning producer was primarily giving chance to young directors.
“I can’t direct every film because I might not be the right person to do justice to the subject. But at the same time I want to be a part of such films. So, I give chance to new filmmakers,” he said.
Bejoy‘s next production venture with new filmmaker Akshay Akkineni is ‘Pizza’. The 3D horror thriller is an adaptation of Tamil blockbuster of the same name.
“I liked the original film and wanted to adapt it. But that time I was busy with ‘David’ and Akshay was also working with me in that. I discussed the idea with Akshay and he adapted it. We have changed the script to suit Bollywood audience.”
The film is expected to hit theatres on July 18.
