Fed up of ill-health, senior couple ends life
Nashik: Fed up of their ill-health an elderly couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves at their residence here, police said today.
Pundalik Sakharam Shinde (65), a retired employee of Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) and his wife Manjula Pundalik Shinde (60), both residents of Hanuman Chowk, ended their lives last night, a police officer of Ambad police station said.
According to a suicide note recovered from the duo, both were suffering from age-old diseases including diabetes and blood pressure and were unable to manage their medical expenses. Hence they decided to end their lives, it said.
The incident came to notice this morning when the couple’s daughter reached home around 9AM and found them dead.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem to Nashik civil hospital.
