A wave of joy in Afghan brought by the Football Team and Cricket Team together
Mumbai: The joy of people in Afghanistan knew no limits last month. The country had reason for double celebration as their national football team won the first ever International title, the Saff cup and the Cricket team qualified for World cup to be played in Aus-Nz.
It’s definitely a proud and one of the happiest moments for Afghanistan football team captain Haroon Amiri who also plays for Mumbai FC. Finally Afghani people laughed, he said in an interview with ‘Prahaar’.
“This year is really good for the sports culture in our country. Last month we won the Saff Cup and our Cricket Team also got qualified for a 50 Over Cricket World Cup.” Haroon said. “My countrymen face security issues quite frequently. They need these kinds of joyous moments. We sportsmen gave them enormous happiness. I have not seen them this happy in last 30 years. They all celebrated on roads with fireworks etc. We had a feeling of becoming ‘Heroes’ for our nation. With this we could also show our sports culture to the whole world.”
While speaking about the environment in his country for sports he said, “Afghanistan is always safe for sports. Some Cricket, Football teams have visited here earlier. There were no security issues for them. Even we have born and brought up here. We are always encouraged by our government and we are proud as a sportsmen to play for our country.”
Afghan Football Team earned the victory at Saaf finals in Nepal under Harron’s leadership. He said, “In 2011 when India defeated us in Saff finals at New Delhi, we had decided to avenge it. We are really proud that we could do so.”
“More Afghan players will be seen in upcoming I-League. My colleague Sandjar Ahmadi has also joined me in Mumbai FC now. I am very happy for him.” He said while concluding.
