First Model Junction to be started in Kalanagar
The Mumbai Traffic police wing has chosen Kalangar junction to inculcate the habit of traffic rules’ following among the commuters
A discussion is taking place in between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) officials and soon the basic infrastructure would be developed.
The city traffic police had taken the decision of establishing a junction with the start of New Year. Places were looked out in airport, Kherwadi, Kalanagar and other areas.
It was found that the six roads reaching the Kalanagar junction would be apt for the model junction. Thus the MMRDA would support the Mumbai traffic police to establish this junction.
The junction would start once the work gets completed. MMRDA is to install high quality signals, zebra crossing, direction boards, road coloring, etc.
Talking with Prahaar, Pratap Dighavkar, Assistant Commissioner, Traffic, said, “Around 25 police in which 3 officers along with 22 personnel will be deployed for the smooth traffic on these roads. The police would take care of no violation of the traffic rules on these roads. Once the number of violations cases decreases, the police personnel will be reduced from the spot,” he said.
Dighavkar further said that Kalanagar junction would be run on pilot basis. More such junctions would be developed with effective services at other locations in the city in future.
