Fishermen should avoid disputes and head towards progress

Malvan: The nations like America and Japan have progressed in fishing industry by taking on advanced technologies. Our fishermen should follow their way and develop their production by adopting latest technologies, and keep aside disputes with each others, the Minister of Industries Narayan Rane said along with giving an assurance to the fishermen that the government will provide all the necessary facilities to develop the fishing industry. He was speaking at the occasion of Sarjekot Jetty’s inauguration.
He also said in believe that the proposed advanced travel jetty at Parule and Devbaugh near Chipi airport, will change the face of tourism in Malvan and Vengurle.
The project established under the Central government’s National Agriculture development Scheme was dedicated to public on Friday at the hands of Rane in the presence of Madhukar Chavan, the Minister of Fisheries and the Education Minister Rajendra Darda. Along with the dignitaries other guests like the commissioner of Fisheries Shyamsunder Shinde, the Commissioner of Konkan R M Mopalwar, the President of District Council Deeplakshmi Padte, MLA Subhash Chavan, Former MLA Rajan Teli, the District Officer E Ravindran and Congress District President Satish Sawant were also present on dais.
The Sarjekot Jetty was demanded since long by residents in the area and party workers were persuading this issue constantly. Finally the Jetty was constructed with the funds sanctioned by the State government.
Rane depicted it as the best fishing jetty in Konkan. He said Sarjekot is developing as tourist place too and soon it will develop itself as a perfect tourist spot. The place lacks cold storage and ice factories, fisheries societies must look into this. There industry requires good marketing practices as well. He also announced that he is trying to bring hatcheries for crabs and prawns in this area, adding further that the boats will be made available through LCDC from the State government.
Rane advised to illuminate the jetty by using solar power. The Minister of Fisheries agreed to the thought immediately. Fisheries Society and Gram Panchayat must look into it, he said.
The contractor M/s D V Pawar who completed this quality work of Jetty was felicitated by Rane on this occasion.
