Fresh batch of pilgrims leaves for Amarnath shrine
Jammu: A fresh batch of 1,149 pilgrims today left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in the South Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.
The batch comprising 784 men, 267 women, eight children, and 90 sadhus left in a motorcade of 32 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here at 04:30 AM, a police official said.
The convoy has already reached Khooni Nala on the Jammu- Srinagar national highway.
With today’s batch, as many as 40,233 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the shrine.
Over 2,70,000 pilgrims have visited the shrine till last evening.
