Gas cylinder blast leaves 2 dead, 3 injured in Kanpur
Kanpur: A woman and a six-year-old girl were killed and three others injured in an alleged gas cylinder blast in Kuli Bazar area here this morning, police said.
The blast occurred inside a house in Kuli Bazar area around 10 AM triggering panic among the residents who informed the police immediately, they said.
The rescue team recovered dead bodies of Sayeeda, 30, and Ruby from the rubble, Additional District Magistrate (City) Avinash Singh said.
Three more injured, including a child, were recovered and sent to the hospital where their condition is stated to be serious, he said.
According to local residents, the blast took place due to leakage in gas cylinder.
However, the police is suspicious about the nature of the blast which also caused damage to three nearby houses and have sought help of special teams with forensic experts to probe the matter even as it did not deny the possibility of some explosive substance behind the blast.
City administration and police are probing the incident, the ADM said.
