Hindalco, Vedanta edge lower on Sensex exit from Dec 21
Mumbai : Shares of Hindalco Industries and Vedanta today fell as much as 4 per cent after the BSE’s announcement that both companies will shift out of the benchmark Sensex from December 21.
Hindalco’s scrip declined by 3.82 per cent to settle at Rs 74.35 on BSE. During the day, it slipped 4.52 per cent to Rs 73.80.
Shares of Vedanta went down by 2.90 per cent to end at Rs 90.45. Intra-day, it fell by 3.81 per cent to Rs 89.60.
Both the scrips were the worst performers on the 30-share benchmark index.
These stocks would be replaced by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone and Asian Paints Ltd.
Shares of Adani Ports rose by 2.52 per cent to Rs 276.55 and Asian Paints gained 2.89 per cent to Rs 850.75.
The move is a part of Asia Index Private Ltd’s semi-annual reconstitution results. The Sensex ended the day at 25,819.34, down 49.15 points.
