Hundreds of pathways to convert into roads at Malvan

Malvan: 101 pathways in remote wadis of malwan taluka will be converted into strong roads under Maharashtra Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Malwan Panchayat Committee’s Group Development Officer Rajendra Paradkar has given approval for it. The work of renovation has already been completed on 12 of approved roads. Panchayat Committee is trying to connect remote wadis through the network of roads; employment guarantee scheme is befitting the work. Residents are expressing satisfaction about these rural development schemes.
Malwan Panchayat Committee has spent highest Rs 2, 19, 06,738 in Sindhudurg district during 2013-14 year. Several tasks like wells, vermicompost, roads, absorbing pits, fruit farming, crops, farmponds etc were undertaken under these schemes. 583 beneficiaries in taluka have rip fruits on 350 hectors of land. 25 famrponds are approved of which three are complete. 179 wells are under construction.
593 vermicompost units are approved out of which 125 units are complete. Malvan taluka had target of Rs 2,02,18,000 to spend under employment guarantee scheme as per the annual budget. The taluka not only completed the target but spent additional Rs 17,000.
Zila Parishad’s branch engineers union had boycott these works due to additional work pressure of Maharashtra Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, and refused to prepare estimates for it. This had delayed the scheme for long.
Many remote wadis including Shirwande Dhangarwadi will now have proper roads instead of small pathways. Once the roads are ready, funds for their asphalting are also approved, informed Paradkar.
