To reach women farmers with agriculture related schemes, Congress has started an independent cell
Mumbai: Almost all the works in farming such as seeding, weeding, harvesting and threshing are done by women but Satbara of field is always titled in men’s name. A person who works so hard for the field should get her rights. Also to reach to women farmers with agriculture related schemes, Congress has started an independent cell.
The first meeting of this cell was held at headquarter of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. As hardworking women in farms are real ‘Annapurna’s of this nation, it was resolute to empower them during this meeting.
All the parties have branches for youth, women and workers but this is for the first time when any political party is introducing a cell for women farmers. Jyotsna Vispute, Chief Coordinator of this Cell says that Congress has taken a step to give justice to real ‘Annapurna’s.
The branches of this cell will be opened in every village and work to reach farmers and especially women farmers with government schemes, crop insurance, loans from bank for crops, schemes for agricultural tools etc.
Vispute put further demands in the meeting such as women farmer’s name should appear on Satbaara as almost 80 per cent work in farms is completed by women, to declare women agricultural policy, state government to immediately open the centers for purchasing corn and jowar.
Women in rural areas will also get an opportunity to lead through this cell. Manikrao Thakare, President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee assured to present all these demands in front of the government.
