Indian women finish 7th in Hawke’s Bay Cup

New Delhi:  The Indian women’s hockey team beat Japan 3-2 to finish seventh in the Hawkes’s Bay Cup in New Zealand.

India had also beaten Japan to win the bronze at the 2014 Asian Games.

Japan led 1-0 by first quarter and doubled their lead soon after to put pressure on India.

India were forced to attack more and in the 28th minute they found success as Sushila Pukhrambam slammed the ball past the goalie.

The third session proved to be a dry one with no goals being scored, making the last fifteen minutes very important for India.

They scored two consecutive goals in a matter of three minutes to seal the tie.
