India’s contribution in Afghanistan’s restructuring is important : Karzai
India and Afghanistan’s healthy relation is a tradition of many ages
He was speaking at the international conference on ‘India and Development Partnerships In Asia and Africa’ organized by Symbiosis International University and Ministry of External Affairs here.
Maharashtra governor K Shankarnarayanan, Symbiosis chancellor Dr. S B Mujumdar, Chairman Arvind Sangamnerkar, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajani Gupte, Sudhir Devare, former Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs and Managing Director Vidya Yervadekar were present at the program.
In his opening speech at the inauguration of the conference, Karzai said that India and Afghanistan’s healthy relation is a tradition of many ages. He further said the country’s economy and political structure had a serious trouble because of various wars and terrorist activities.
Karzai said that India stood firm as a real friend in the restructuring of the country. With the financial support of USD 2 billion, India also was helping in the irrigation projects, foundation of health centers. Indian teachers were sent to teach in schools and colleges for quality education. He said that at present many Afghan students were taking education in the fields of Management, Medical Education, Computer Science and in Engineering in India. Indian government has granted scholarships to the Afghan students. He said, “After 10 years, when these students would return to Afghanistan, they would contribute effectively in our nation building.”
India has helped with all kinds to seed the democratic structure in Afghanistan.
Karzai further said that healthy relations of India and Afghanistan are concurrent to the international peace.
Dignitaries from the field of diplomacy, education and students from Tanzania, Dubai, Bhutan, Iran, Turky, Senegal, Afghanistan, Asian and African continents attended the conference.
