Jams all the way…
As the encroachment issue can turn deadliest to take someone’s life, the civic administration and police in their own paradise
Mumbai: Many a times, we experience that things done in excess create trouble for all. In case of traffic jams, commuters and residents in Borivali West area are frustrated with the ever growing traffic jams on the market road next to Borivali station.
The hawkers occupy the roads for vegetables selling. This encroachment on roads compels the vehicles to pass at a snail’s pace. Naturally, the commuters try all possibilities to take their vehicles out of the jam. If a hawker gets any jerk while crossing the jam, the vehicle driver has to face hawkers’ rudeness.
Sometimes, the hawkers leave their vehicles in front the shops and on the roads. It increases the jam and the entire scene turns chaotic.
As the encroachment issue can turn deadliest to take someone’s life, the civic administration and police in their own paradise.
Talking with Prahaar, Ramaniklal Rathod, R-Central, BMC ward office, Assistant, Recovery Department officer, said, “The civic body takes action time to time but once the anti encroachment vehicles moves away from the place, the hawkers take charge of the public places after paying the fine. As per the decision of the Supreme Court, we cannot take action against those hawkers who use footpaths for commercial purposes. But we take action against those who encroach parts of the road,” he said.
