Kolhapur, Mumbai win Kabaddi championship
Kolhapur won the boys title and Mumbai claimed the girls crown at the state-level kabaddi championship
Kolhapur boys defeated Sangli 5-3 to emerge winners in the finals played yesterday. The third position went to Central Mumbai and Ahmednagar.
In the girls segment, Mumbai got the better of Pune 12-9 while Ratnagiri stood third followed by Mumbai suburban team.
The 40th state-level Kabaddi meet, which concluded last night, was organized in Kudus of Wada taluka. Sixty-two teams from 24 districts participated in the competition.
State Kabaddi Association general secretary Ramesh Devadikar said that 20 players from the teams who crossed the pre-quarterfinals stage would be selected and sent to a training camp that will be held from December 13-23.
Twelve players will be shortlisted to represent the state at the national meet in Buddi, Bangalore from December 26-29.
Those selected in Bangalore will go abroad for Asian events.
