Konkan Railway back on the track
Konkan railway back to routine after 15 hours struggle
Khed: The Konkan Railway halted due to derailment of Mandavi Express was restored by 3.30am on Monday morning. Administration could start the transport again after a tiring struggle of almost 15 hours.
The engine and one compartment of CST-Madgaon Mandavi Express was derailed at around 11.30 on Sunday morning, at around one km from Khed. No deaths are reported in the accident but the railway was completely stuck. The work to move the engine and compartment started immediately after the accident.
A crack on the track was noticed by motorman in time and he implied emergency breaks. Though the engine and one compartment were derailed, a massive accident could be avoided because of his attention. The schedule of Konkan railway is disturbed at large. Some trains are cancelled and some are running late by 6 to 7 hours.
