‘Krushi Vasant’ to be held in Feb at Nagpur
A national agriculture expo ‘Krushi Vasant’ will be held from 9th to 23rd February at Nagpur with the motive to revive agriculture sector
Mumbai: A national agriculture expo ‘Krushi Vasant’ will be held from 9th to 23rd February at Nagpur with the motive to revive agriculture sector. 50 lakh farmers are anticipated to visit this exhibition. The expo will guide farmers about advanced technologies in the sector and provide valuable guidance from experts to them; hence maximum number of farmers must attend this event, said Sharad Pawar, the Minister of Agriculture.
The Agriculture Ministry of India and Agriculture department of the State government is organizing this expo on Birth Anniversary of former Chief Minister Vasantrao Naik.
Pawar informed about this event in a press conference held on Sunday. The Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Agriculture and commerce Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, Minister of Cooperation Harshwardhan Patil, Chief Secretary J S Saharia, Central agricultural secretary Ashish Bahuguna, Joint Secretary Sanjiv Gupta etc were also present at the venue.
More than 300 plots of grain crops, lentils, fodder, oil seeds, vegetables; along with products to increase productivity and enhance quality of crops will be displayed in the expo. Seminars on topics like ‘production by mechanization and advance technology’, ‘self ability to produce lentils and oil seeds’, ‘management and distribution after harvesting’, ‘dairy farming, hatcheries and fish farming’ will also be conducted.
Those farmers who will not be able to attend this expo will be able to visit it through web casting, said Pawar.
This is the second Agriculture expo post independence and we are thankful to the Central government for giving us an opportunity to organize it, said the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
