Law to provide emergency medical services soon: Sawant

Thane: Maharashtra Health Minister Deepak Sawant today said that the state government would soon bring in a law for emergency health services to be provided to the citizens in the state.

“A new law which is in offing and the draft of which is getting ready and will be introduced in the next legislative session. The responsibilities of each of the stake holder like civic bodies, panchayats and health and other department officials will be fixed and made accountable,” Sawant said after inaugurating renovated facilities at the government-run late Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi here.

“There will be a nodal section to monitor these agencies and all efforts would be made to remove the flaws in the present system and provide best of the health care facilities to the citizens,” the minister added.

Sawant further said rampant referral systems should be drastically brought down.

He has also sought sought monthly reports from the deputy directors on this issue.

Bhiwandi MP Kapil Patil, MLAs Roopesh Mhatre and Mahesh Chowgule were also present on the occasion.
