Leopard trapped at village in Nashik
Nashik: A leopard was trapped in Devlali village near here after villagers spotted the animal moving freely in the residential area, forest officials said today.
A forest department team trapped a leopard yesterday near a farm in Rokodoba-wada area in Devlali after locals informed officials of a spotting a leopard in the vicinity, Forest Range Officer Trimbak Binnar said.
Officials have been keeping a vigil in the locality and a cage was put in place. The leopard was finally caught, bringing down jeopardy among villagers, he said.
Meanwhile, three newborn cubs of a leopardess were found near a sugarcane field at Dherwadi area in Niphad taluka three days ago and are being taken care of by forest officials, Binnar said.
He said the cubs, who are 30-40 day-old, are being fed milk, eggs and chicken at a garden under forest department during daytime and are sent back to the field in a big plastic container, so that their mother can find them while she on a hunt.
