Thane: A man who wanted money for his marriage not only stole bags from the factory he worked, but also brutally killed the factory owner’s father in Khadegolawali, near Vitthalwadi, the Kalyan police said here today.
Senior police inspector S L Daule of the Kolsewadi police station told PTI that the arrested called Bhima alias Satyendra Singh (30), a resident of Maliksarai Islampur in Bihar worked in a bag manufacturing factory of one Saurabhkumar Gaurishankar Prasad at Khadegolawali in Kalyan East.
He used to sleep in the factory itself where the factory owner’s father Gourishankar Wasudeoram Prasad (58) also used to sleep daily.
The accused was supposed to get married in his village on May 23, for which he needed money badly.
So he stole around 400 bags worth Rs 60,000 before fleeing the factory and killed the factory owner’s father, so that there are no witnesses, on the night of May 17.
After the incident, the police nabbed the accused from Ulhasnagar township last evening, the police officer said.
The accused was produced at the local court today which remanded him to police custody for four days, the police said.
The police said that the accused was charged under Sections 302, 381 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code and the bags stolen by him were being recovered.
