Mangoes to blossom in cold breeze
The temperature at the coastal area is decreasing upto 20 C with emerging northern winds. It has benefited the mango crop in the region and the flowers are blossoming fast
Thus the process of mango cross pollination has got healthy atmosphere in the region. If the atmosphere could maintain for longer, the experts said that the Alphonso mango cross breeds would flourish in the coming times.
In the first phase around 25% of mango cross breeds were flourished in the first week of November. Thus the mango growers were eagerly waiting for the cold breeze. As the breeze has arrived in the region, around 50% of the mango flowers will be flourished in the coming times.
The production of mango famous Devgad Alphonso variety is decreasing from past five to six years. Thus the agriculturists in the region were under pressure. Most of the mango growers were thinking about this year’s crop production considering the serial decrease of last five years.
It is also seen that this year, the mango flowers have grown quite low. The agriculturists are experiencing the low mango production from past two years because of low blossoming of mango flowers.
Thus the mango producers have to face this new challenge in this year as well.
When such things are occurring in the agriculturist community, new type of diseases, insect attacks along with new problems are arising, the agriculture department seems completely ignorant towards the delicate issue of the region.
