Marathi medium schools still in demand in Thane
Thane : Despite a number of English medium schools being set up in Thane, the demand for Marathi medium schools still exists in the city, according to a premier educational trust here.
Sarawati Mandir Trust’s managing trustee Ashok Tilak and another trustee Surendra Dighe said they have been witnessing a huge demand among parents to admit their wards in their Marathi medium school.
“This itself proves that there is still demand for Marathi medium schools in the city,” the duo told reporters yesterday while announcing the launch of their English medium school from next educational year.
“Marathi medium is also here to stay even if we take any other venture,” they said.
They also said that there has been a growing demand from Thane citizens for setting up an English Medium school since long, though they were against it till recently.
“However we found that this was an apt time to set up one. So we have gone ahead and decided to set up one which will follow the CBSE curriculum,” they said adding that the demographic, social and economic fabric of Thane city has changed considerably in the last 20 years.
