Marleshwar to directly connect with Ganpatipule
The long awaited Parchuri Bridge is finally approved with sanctioned fund of Rs 12 crore, after 35 years
Ratnagiri: The long awaited Parchuri Bridge is finally approved with sanctioned fund of Rs 12 crore, after 35 years. The ground breaking ceremony of this bridge will soon be held at the hands of Deputy Chief Minister Ajeet Pawar.
This bridge will connect two popular tourist destinations; Marleshwar which is located in Sangameshwar taluka and Ganpatipule which is situated at Ratnagiri, informed President of NCP’s Vidhansabha constituency Gajanan Patil in a press conference.
Small villages across the river like Parchuri, Kolambe, Kochari, Kurdhunda, Kosumb, Ukshi, Fungus etc will be benefited of this bridge. Presently, students have to travel in small boats to cross river and villagers have to walk around 26 km to reach Sangameshwar market. Hence, these villagers were demanding a bridge over this river for last 35 years and finally on 20th January fund of Rs 12 crore were approved for the project.
A 120 km, two lane bridge will be built within two years on Parchuri River. This bridge will also connect Parchuri and other villages to a Nation Highway. It will contribute to the development of tourism in this region as it will cut down the distance between two popular tourist destinations, said Patil.
