Mayors continue to oppose LBT, says reluctant to accept
President of Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM) Mohan Gurnani and vice-president of Thane Small Scale Industry Association (TSSIA) Sandeep Parikh told reporters here that mayors have not accepted the government’s proposal to levy controversial LBT and that they are still mulling on their stand on it.
“We are debating over the issue and have not totally rejected it. Our decision regarding the proposal will be communicated to the government soon,” Gurnani said in a press conference here.
The 22 mayors of the state today met here to discuss on LBT.
The trade body representatives said trade and industry players across the state are totally opposed to the LBT and are of the opinion that new tax should not be levied.
Gurnani said that the entire issue has become complex with political parties taking their stand on it.
