MCOCA slapped on five accused
Nashik: Police on monday slapped stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against five criminals in Igatpuri taluka.
The accused were booked for stealing a truck and other violent crimes, said Vadivarhe police station in-charge Manohar Patil.
The accused have a string of cases registered against them for murder and voluntarily causing hurt in various police stations in Nashik and Thane districts, he said.
They are identified as Sampat Ghorpade, Arun Ghorpade, Vishwas Ghorpade, Magan alias Madan Pawar, and Ramesh Patankar.
As per MCOCA provisions, the accused must have been chargesheeted more than once.
