Monorail safety test runs successful
Mock drill conducted to face emergency situation
Mumbai: A mock drill to test for the safety measures of passengers on monorail tracks was conducted on Thursday morning. Antop Hill Fire Brigade of Anik-Wada way along with Wadala truck terminal Police station and Matunga traffic police department participated in the drill.
The employees of the inspection department were passengers of the monorail in the drill. Then an emergency phone call was made to the fire brigade department. The time taken by the fire brigade department to reach the spot was also calculated. The passengers were safely taken out of the monorail immediately. The mock drill was carried out for two hours.
Officials from various departments like SMRT, MMRDA, Larsen and Tubro and Scomi Engineering were present at the mock drill.
Talking with Prahaar, Ashwini Bhide, Additional Commissioner, MMRDA, said, “Such tests have to be taken for the security purposes of the passengers. These facts have been added in the work procedure of Mumbai Monorail and more tests of such kind will be conducted time to time,” she said.
