Naxal involved in Jiram valley attack surrenders
Jageshwar Komra (22), who surrendered last evening, alleged that the senior cadres were engaged in extortion to benefit their family members, Kanker Superintendent of Police RN Dash told.
The rebel cited disappointment with Naxal movement, exploitation of lower rank and women rebels and atrocities by senior cadres as the reasons for their surrender, he said.
A native of Malmeta village under Tadoki police station limits, Komra joined the Naxal movement in 2006 and later worked with Papa Rao, a top Maoist leader from Andhra Pradesh, who masterminded the 2010 Tadmetla massacre in which 76 security personnel were killed.
Komra was involved in a number of deadly attacks, including the Jiram valley attack in which senior Congress leaders were killed last year, attacks on CoBRA jawans during Lok Sabha polls in Sukma this year leaving three of them dead and four others injured, abduction of three police personnel Amabeda in 2009 and others, Dash said.
The rebel will rehabilitated as per the policy of the state government, he added.
