Kochi: To cash in on the Christmas and New Year demand, Kerala based Elite Foods, makers of different varities of Plum cakes, today launched two new speciality cakes.
Elite Foods have been meeting the requirement of Plum cakes during Christmas season for the past several years.
This year, the company launched two new speciality cakes- Black Forest and Ginger and Honey cake which are transfat free and nutritionally rich, Sabu George, Joint CEO, told reporters here.
The cake market in Kerala during Christmas is worth Rs 40 crore of which elite enjoys a 55 per cent market share, he claimed.
To woo more customers, Elite today launched ‘Cake on Wheels’ initiative which would spread the message of Christmas all over the state and the importance of cakes during Christmas, he said.
Consumers will have a direct opportunity to see the full range of products available in market during this season. The road show was flagged off today and would visit various districts during 18 days from tomorrow.
The 25-year-old Elite Group is FMCG conglomerate having a production base in India. The branded food business of the group is making rapid strides across the country.
The group has 11 quality driven state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across India. It has also has five outsourced plants.
Besides India, the group has a presence in many global markets, including the Middle East, North America and UK, Canada and Australia, he said.
The South Indian markets are catered through manufacturing units at Kochi and Hosur.
To cater to Western India and seasonal sales of North India, Elite has set up a cake plant in Mumbai where 100 per cent vegetarian and egg less vanilla and chocolate cakes, chocolate coated cakes, coconut burfies, cup cakes and other variants for the western India markets are manufactured.
