Now Mobile Court in Mumbai for traffic rule offenders
Mumbai Police is all set to tackle these offences and pronounce the punishment on the spot
Mumbai: Traffic rules are often broken by drunkards, traffic signal violators and mobile users who love to talk while driving. But now Mumbai Police is all set to tackle these offences and pronounce the punishment on the spot.
The Mumbai Police had proposed ‘Mobile Court’ to take strict action on traffic rule offenders. The Sessions Court has already given ‘green signal’ to this proposal; they awaiting an approval from the High Court now.
The Mobile Court will be established at the main parts in South, Central, North, West and East zones of Mumbai city. These courts will take immediate action on traffic rule offenders on the spot, informed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pratap Dighavkar.
He also believed that this initiative will help to reduce the rate of ‘drunken driving’ cases. The court will be giving punishment or fine on case to case basis on-the-spot.
Only 22 of 88 breath test machines, which are used to test whether driver is drunk, are in working condition. New machines will be purchased shortly which will include GPS system which will help to gather all the information about drunkard, Dighavkar said.
