Now Mumbra is on GIS radar
Thane Municipal Corporation has come up with GIS survey of its limits to avoid building collapse accidents. Around 87 lives have been taken by building collapse accidents in last six months
Thane: In last six months around 87 lives have been taken by building collapse accidents. The arrow of criticism indicates Thane Municipal Corporation. Now, to avoid such accidents in future, the municipal corporation has started cluster development plan. Thus the civic administration has decided a Geographical Information System (GIS) survey of the structures in Mumbra area under the cluster development plan.
Cyber Tech Systems and Software Limited, a company in the field of GIS survey, will conduct the survey for Thane Municipal Corporation.
With the help of satellite images in the corporation limits, the data will be kept on permanent basis with the civic administration. The survey will also update the latest data such as details of structures, places, survey numbers, owner of the building, land details, land owner’s details, road, life span of a structure, measurements of the structure, etc. with the help of Google mapping.
Meanwhile, the survey started in Mumbra ward committee. But the survey could not be completed as the residents did not respond. Thus Asim kumar Gupta, Commissioner, Thane Municipal Corporation organized a meeting with all the corporators to discuss the importance of the survey.
He discussed about the importance and necessity of the survey for corporation as well as for the residents’ safety. All the corporators supported the commissioner’s idea and indicated positive response to the survey.
The survey has recorded that data of 1, 44, 109 huts, 403 partially completed structures, 2,11,723 apartments along with a 9, 46, 100 sq meter long commerce park and schools, hospitals, banks in 2,51,267 sq meter area, parking lots of 1,64,560 sq meter with 7,23,967 sq meters of industrial zones in Thane Municipal Corporation limits.
