One injured in bomb blast in abandoned godown

Kolkata:  A man was today injured when a crude bomb exploded during garbage clearance at an abandoned godown of Food Corporation of India (FCI) under Cossipore police station area in northern part of the metropolis.

He was initially taken to the R G Kar Medical College Hospital, which later referred him to the state-run SSKM Hospital, city police officials said.

The explosion took place when a group of workers was clearing garbage from the godown.

The police rushed to the spot after the blast and carried out an investigation to ascertain if there was any other bomb or explosive material hidden in or around the godown, the officials said.
