PNG Jeweler’s owner Dajikaka Gadgil dies of old age
PNG Jeweler’s owner Anant Ganesh aka Dajikaka Gadgil died at 99
A support system to one of the most popular jewelers in Pune, Dajikaka was an unending source of energy even in this hundred. He died today at Prayag Hospital.
He brought jewelers in Pune together when he was President of Pune Saraf Association. He worked on their betterment. They together collected fund for Latur earthquake victims. He protested against the pay and park law on Lakshmi Road with Satyagraha method; as a result the road now has proper pay and park system. He was a helping hand to many.
His Gadgil family originally belongs to Trimbak village in Malvan. They shifted to Sangli some 200 years back. ‘Ganesh Narayan Gadgil Saraf and Jewelers’ was launched on 29th November 1932 with a joint business of jewelry making and money lending. Later in 1958 Dajikaka took brave decision to start ‘Purushottam Narayan Gadgil and Company’ (PNG) in Pune and he was soon successful with his honesty and accuracy in work. He diversified his business in real estate with ‘Dajikaka Gadgil Developers’ in 2009.
He was bestowed with awards from Rotary, Kalnirnay and Pune Municipal Corporation. He had a rare opportunity to have joint venture with World Gold Council.
